Global Reach specialises in designing and deploying distributed applications, where
a "client" collects data locally and sends it to a "server". The server – the brains
of the system – then processes the data to generate information, analysis and reports.
For example, the client device could be a GPS tracking unit on a moving asset, while
the server application could be recording the position and speed of the asset. This
data could then be presented in a management report.
Distributed applications are reliant on a robust communications link between the
client and the server, which presents particular challenges when the client is located
on a moving asset. As a result of our experience of operating such applications,
particularly in the mass transit sector, we are expert in fixed and wireless networking.
Many of our solutions incorporate our wireless mesh networks and mobile broadband
gateways, which we have developed to overcome the limitations of standard hardware
and software offerings in the market.
